Notes on file preparation

To engrave and cut

If you wish to have a file that has etching and cutting within the same document, you can create your design in a program that can use vectors and raster images, such as Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw or Inkscape. Just make sure the lines you want to cut are 0.001 inch (hairline) in thickness. Any other lines that are thicker will be etched. As a note, etching/engraving takes more time, and can therefore incur more cost of production.

Document type: All vector files should be exported to PDF as an end format.
From Illustrator/Inkscape/Corel Draw: save as PDF.
From SketchupPro: 2D export the view as PDF.
From AutoCad: Export to DWF/PDF, save as PDF.

Document size should be 12″ high x 24″ wide, always oriented in landscape. Please be sure that any artwork is constrained within the 12″x24″ document size.

Materials: We have 1/8 inch and 1/16 inch acrylic of many colors in stock. We also have 1/16 inch wood and 1/8 mat board. Any materials that are not determined to be laser safe cannot be cut.
