Mercury switch

At first I was looking for normal tilt swithes but then I looked up tilt switches on wikipedia and found out there is mercury in the original tilt switches. The (mercury\tilt) switch has a small drop of liquid mercury inside. Mercury is conductive since it is a metal  so when it touches the conductors the electricity passes through but when it is tilted the other way the current flow stops. My mom said that her science teacher used to let the class play with quicksilver (mercury) but now scientists found out that it is extremely toxic. They are used in vending machines to make sure no one tries tipping the vending  machine to steal a snack, they are also used in some landmines and bombs, they also use it in most light bulbs these days…
