Web Development – WIA Work skill development programs

Fab Lab SD in partnership with San Diego Futures Foundation and Media Arts Center San Diego offered FREE job skill development classes in Web Development for low-income young adults.

In order to qualify, students need to be low-income, preferably from the SD metro region, and have completed (or be close to completing) High School or GED, not yet enrolled in college.

Attend an information session at San Diego Futures Foundation. You are welcome to bring 1 friend or family member. The information session will provide more information regarding different education and training programs, eligibility, interview, selection process, and overall timeline for program.

Web Development:

Learn how to build, design and manage your own website.
Web development is a great skill to have for your future, and covers topics related to graphics, computer science, communication, design, marketing and management.

[singlepic id=2389 w=350 h= float=left]  In this program, you will learn all the skills needed to design a professional-quality website.
You will work with a web designer to learn how to create a website using WordPress, one of the most popular platforms on the web.
You will then learn how to customize your site, add social web elements with Facebook and Twitter, create events, add calendar updates and custom graphics to have a well-designed look and feel.

Through this course, you will also earn pre-college credit through the UCSD College Exploration program. This will be a great tool when you apply to any college, and it gives you a boost upon application to a UC. This is also a great way to show future employers that you have accomplished a web development program.

This course is open to beginners as well as those with experience. Whether you are creative, techie or both there is a place for you within web development!
