Fab Lab is moving to Makers Quarter

We’re excited to announce that beginning October 2014 we will be located in Makers Quarter, a growing maker-themed neighborhood in East Village that is already home to great community resources like Silo, the Coliseum, and Smarts Farm. Our time at Ansir Innovation Center has allowed our community to grow into new, exciting places that are apparently too many for us to write about! Ansir has been the best host we could have hoped for, and together we have made real things happen. The success startups have had coming through the Ansir Center is greatly owed to the community we’ve gathered together – no where else in San Diego could you find an incubation host for nearly anything, even food! The experiment has been a great success in our eyes, but our space needs have grown with our community and we think the new location is a perfect fit for the next phase.

Makers Quarter is an exciting project.  The neighborhood is being developed into a live/work environment aimed at the tech entrepreneur, with residential and commercial developments replacing the majority of the old buildings currently standing.  Building community requires communal space and resources, and while that may seem obvious, it is often hard to do with commercial properties.  Makers Quarter is a chance for our community to stake a claim in our city and build like never before. So on to the details.  We are packing the lab starting September 27, 2014 during our regularly scheduled open lab.  We are clear to move in October 1st.  The new space is 6400 sqft, with plenty of street parking and electricity.  While we build out the new space, we are accepting rental applications for 50 to 400 sqft workspaces.
