Cady’s portfolio

Welcome to my portfolio! My name is Cady and I will be attending Marshall Middle School in the fall for 6th grade. This summer I’ve been doing 3D printing camp at La Jolla Country Day. The programs I’ve been introduced to so far include Adobe Illustrator, Tinkercad and Sketch Up. The projects that I’ve already designed are vinyl stickers, a business logo, a name tag, a business card and a laser cuttable patterns.

I’ve learned so much from these three weeks. I started out using Tinkercad to make simple blocks. But as we progressed through the class, we learned so much more. The first new thing we learned was learning how to group shapes together tomake more complex figures. We also learned that day how to make holes inside shapes which was really useful through out later in the class. Later, we learned how to import things that we drew in Adobe Illustrator to 3D modelsin tinkercad.I started out using tinkercad to make a simple office building- now I just finished making the Guggemheim Museum in Bilbao!

My favorite project I did in tinkercad was the Guggemheim Museum located in Bilbao. It was a very difficult project- I liked it because it challenged me a lot. The Guggemheim museum was full of weird and complex curvy shapes. You might be wondering why the museum in the pictures are full of different colors. Mr. Gaffney actually made is own model to help us, his is the white model. Making this building was tough, but it helped me so much later in the class- I now know so many more tricks!

When I was first introduced to Adobe Illustrator, I learned how to create perfect shapes. Later through out the 3 weeks, I learned how to use the pen tool so much better and knew how to use almost every single tool inAdobe Illustrator. We designed so many things in Adobe Illustator- buisness cards, buisness logos, paper vans, laser cuttable things, and we even drew things we could import into tinkercad.I’ve learned so much about this program and now I can draw on the computer.
