Join FAB LAB SD and The Civic Innovation Lab this Sunday as community-led teams show how citizens can come together to address civic issues by designing solutions.
Featured exhibitors include:
Citizen Inteligente: this project aims to create a network of resident-deployed and monitored sensors in Barrio Logan to capture environmental data.
City Dashboard: is a prototype web-application that projects public data onto a ‘wall of knowledge’ to give citizens a heads-up display of urban data.
Vertical Gardens Downtown: a prototype to provide easily accessible food in an ecologically sound way using previously under-leveraged resources.
The Open City Project is an initiative of the City of San Diego’s Civic Innovation Lab.
The event will include hands-on activities and demos, as we showcase apps, devices, objects and experiences designed and produced in the community to enliven our neighborhoods and the time we spend together.

More about the Featured Exhibitor Projects:
Citizen Inteligente aims to create a network of resident-deployed and monitored sensors in Barrio Logan to capture environmental data. Installation of the sensor will be aesthetically pleasing and culturally relevant, with an interactive aspect for local citizens. Information retrieved by the sensor will be incorporated into a usable dashboard.
City Dashboard is a prototype web-application that projects public data onto a ‘wall of knowledge’ to give citizens a heads-up display of where we are, where we are going, and how fast we’ll be getting there. Key Performance Indicators include our environment, pollution, transportation, energy costs, and city financial metrics.
Vertical Gardens Downtown is a prototype using a mix of bought and recycled materials to create small urban garden spots. The aim is to help solve the problems of urban pollution and meeting the nutritional needs of the economically under-privileged. It provides a source of easily accessible food and an ecologically sound way to help clean and maintain the environment.
A special thanks to our participating partners!
