According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), about 39,520 deaths from breast cancer among women as of 6/20/2011. Breast cancer is the most common cancer for women to get in the United States, other than skin cancer. It’s also the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer. The chance of women dying from breast cancer is about 1 in 35 and the death rate has been going down. But according to a study done by the ACS, there are more than 2.5 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S. currently. If we can find a way to get the death rate down to 1,000, that will be a huge improvement.
