Press Fit Lamp Project

This week, our project was to custom make a press fit lamp. My idea for the lamp was based on a Japanese paper lantern, but instead of making it completely paper, I made part of it wood. The design cut into the lamp is very complex, with many different kinds of triangles. The lantern is a foot tall, and 5.5 inches wide. In Illustrator, part of it was already made in BoxMaker- an online program to make different sized boxes. After the prototype was cut out and put together, I realized that the pieces that interlocked were a bit too small, so in the final project I made the slots bigger. In the future, I will remember to make the interlocking pieces larger.
