My first look

Hello my name is Sriya Avadhanam and I am a seventh grader at Oak Valley Middle School

Right now in Industrial Design we have been working with Adobe Illustrator, Google Sketchup, and TinkerCad. Today we worked on 3-d printing our trophies. I used Adobe Illustrator to trace an image of a trophy and then pasted it into TinkerCad where you can turn the shapes into 3-d. We also added some touches to make the image 3-d printable. We also started our final project. Our final project was to make a 3-d printable image of a famous building. We split into groups and started working on the Empire State Building. This is what I did today.

When I first started of in TinkerCad, I was confused and didn’t know what to do. I started using the geometric figures to build objects.I learned that you can orbit the image and view all sides of it. I also learned that you can import files and images from your computer onto TinkerCad. You can also group objects together and color them in. One of the hardest challenges for me was getting objects to fit each other perfectly. S R I Y A A V A D H A N A M

When I first started using Illustrator I found everything hard and confusing. I learned that I can use many tools to draw, trace and figures. For example I used the ellipse tool to draw circles and ellipses. In case you made a mistake you can also use the eraser tool. In order to zoom in to fix mistakes you can always use the zoom tool. Last but not least you can also trace curves using the Pen tool. You can change the outline and the fill color. You can click and drag to trace curvy objects. I learned a lot.

My favorite project in this course was the Make-Yourself-A-Trophy. I loved this project the most because it was a creative idea and it turned out the best for me. I also liked the idea of tracing the original image on Adobe Illustrator and importing it on TinkerCad. The best part was building it. I loved creating the unique base using a cylinder hole to cut the base. S R I Y A A V A D H A N A M

My favorite project in Adobe Illustrator was the laser cuts. I loved it the best because we got to design the borders for our pendents, rings and the shades. I liked the sunglasses the best because I thought they came out the best. They were also in a funky style and were easy to design. For the rings I also like how I designed them because once you put them on they spell out “love”. S R I Y A A V A D H A N A M
