Educational Programs in Fab Lab San Diego
In partnership with UCSD Extension and the South Metro Career Center, Fab Lab San Diego is developing and implementing a series of courses designed to offer high school students technically advanced experiences in computer science, design and digital fabrication, electronics and engineering, alternative energy and renewable fuels.
We have developed a learning methodology that allows newcomers to attain low-barrier access to highly technical learning. These programs offer experiences in design, science, engineering, electronics, computation, mathematics and the scientific method through a self-directed, project-based learning curriculum, resulting in personal development and real-world skill attainment. By focusing on programs that address empowerment, education, innovation, production and creativity, we aim to achieve individual and community development, empowering the individual and the community through accessible and relevant learning.
While we strive to serve all motivated learners, we provide quality learning experiences to students that represent the most disenfranchised members of the educational system, including high school dropouts, youth offenders, and recent refugees and also the new generation of highly technical students that want to explore areas not traditionally covered by educational programs.
